"fabulous fifth graders"

I taught 2nd grade my first year of teaching and loved it. I also did student teaching in fifth grade. I didn't have a good experience and I wasn't thrilled about being hired to teach 5th grade the next year, but the new
principle swore that it was the place for me to be. Well he was right. I love my 5th graders! They can be very chatty and loud and the hormones are a big pain. Some will back talk and not do work. Some will be great and show you a lot of affection. I get little notes and gifts from my fifth graders and I am known as a B****. I am very strict with classroom managment and getting work done.

I have learning bags set up and special days for students to use the computers in my room. My school also uses the Accelerated Reader Program and my students are in competition with the class next door to be called the top fifth grade calss at the end of every Firday.
The attiudes and hormones can be a challenge, but I say BRING IT ON. They are a great age to teach and they can really entertain you when you need it the most. Good luck! I hope you get the job and if you need any help just email me. I would be glad to help.
