Poetry unit

Scholastic has a really helpful book that it publishes on teaching poetry and helping students to become poets themselves. I have used it quite successfully with my 5th graders as well as with a previous class of 6th graders. The activities are very enjoyable for the kids and it takes a lot of stress out of the process. When I used it for my 6th graders, we were able to compile a whole anthology of their work to which all of them contributed at least one piece. They were extremely proud of themselves and I was very pleased with the quality of their work.. I got the book from the Book Club order sheet for teacher resources. Maybe you could contact the company if it isn't on the current listing. Good Luck.
