another idea that worked

Clip to ScrapBook
When I taught 6th grade, talking was a huge issue. I bought different neon colored index cards. They were labeled 1 (warning)
2 (lost recess time)
3 (trip to office)
Without saying a word, I would walk over to the offending party and lay the card on his/her desk. Each card had a warning about what would happen next if the undesired behavior didn't stop. It was a visible reminder and it worked!
I am concerned that so many teachers punish the entire class for the infractions of a few. My own children have been caught up in this and see it as unfair. I think it is important to punish only those who deserve it. Good luck!
