Revising
By Robin

Clip to ScrapBook
One thing that I have used to help my really struggling writers (for whom revising is just too overwhelming) is to to allow them to cut up their rough draft, rather than having to recopy the whole thing several times. For example, if the first three sentences are really good, but then they lost track of their topic, I have them cut those three sentences out, glue them on a fresh sheet of paper, and then continue from there. This is really helpful when I am asking them to add details. Before I started using this process, if I asked the kids to add more details, they always came at the end. With this method, they are able to keep the writing that is valuable and add more in relevant places.
