measurement/graphing
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Pose the question : What is the typical height of a ________ grader (use for your grade level). Students measure their height then graph the results using a simple line plot. Students make observations such as : sample size, range of data, mean, mode, median, typical height etc. Lesson can be extended by measuring the height of a lower grade level, like 1st grade. Students can graph those results at well. Further extension of lesson would be: How much taller is a __________grader than a ____________grader? Have students plot heights of all of the students on one graph. Must show each grade level in a unique way. Make observations.
