Re: Pet/Dog Unit

Some ideas I have for your unit: Solicit donations of various shape dog biscuits & treats. Get some zip-lock food storage bags. Have students assemble "goodie bags" and donate them to the local animal shelter. You could do the same for cats, with cat treats & small toys. Another idea is to sponser a building-wide pet food drive. Students could estimate, wiegh, etc. how much food was collected. Have guest speakers come in to talk about careers with anmials:
Vet, Vet assistant, Dog groomer, Dog walker, Pet Sitter, Pet Store Owner, etc. Have a couple of kids bring their pets for a visit each day of your unit. What you are doing sounds like fun; the students will love it.
