Hi Nicole,
For K-3, emphasis is mainly on Personal Experience Narrative, Imaginary Story, Communication, Non-fiction, and Poetry...for 4-8 you'd add Summary, Expository, and Persuasion. Just thinking about Imaginary Story, there are many kinds...folktales, fairy tales, morality tales, tales of origin, science fiction, myths, legends...hope this helps. In Guiding Readers and Writers there's a series of lessons on teaching these. Hope this helps. ;-D
