weekly writing
By Rita

Clip to ScrapBook
my teammates and I also have students that hate to write. Last year we began having our students do a nightly journal writing. We give them a calendar each month that has a writing prompt. They learn to write to the prompt and also get daily writing practice. I comment back to them each day. They are now writing so much more than at the beginning of the year. These prompts are very open ended (fat type of questions). At the end of the year the students have this wonderful journal filled with all of their writing to keep. I also teach 4th grade. It was painful for some of the students at first, but you can see great improvement over the year.
