2/3 SUFFER?????????
By DETERMINED TO DISCIPLINE

Clip to ScrapBook
Dear Concerned Parent & Teacher,
As a TEACHER, you realize that my action was taken for the sake of the model students. They weren't able to learn the things that were necessary for them to pass the standardized
test. Did they suffer or were they suffering? It's not always the squeaky wheel that gets the attention.
As a PARENT, again, you're relying on a teacher to do it all. The parent is the child's first teacher and should continue to be through adulthood. It shouldn't stop just because a child enters shool. I had several parents ask what could they do to assist their child while
the room was shut down. I made up worksheets, supplied reading book lists and those parents who wanted them, could come to the room and pick them up. I sent nothing home with my students. This way, I knew that the parents who cared would FIND A WAY to pick up the reinforcement materials.
If a phone call was made by the parent (all have my home phone number), I made arrengements to meet the parent, mail the package of materials (sent two certified mail, return receipt requested), or stayed late after school. My parents truely apprecited my actions.
