Guided Reading
By Wendy

Clip to ScrapBook
My district just purchased Scholastic Literacy Place curriculum. This program offers 4 weeks of shared reading instruction with specific skills (prediction, plot)then follow that with 2 weeks of guided reading. I was planning
on running 4 groups as literature circles - 5 students in a group (one with six) and each of them using a roled sheet. I have Guided Reading and Writing 3 -6 . Great book but a lot of information. I need a whole summer to really comprended all the strategy. Do you think I can run my Guided Reading Group as Literature Circles? I would meet with group 1 (15 minutes) while group 2
is meeting - Listen to them their last 15 minutes. (Groups 3 and 4 would be quietly reading their chapters and responding on their sheets). As anyone lead guided reading groups like this before?
