Birdseed Plants

A cute idea I tried in my class this year that the kids LOVED was to make BIRDSEED PLANTS. And, yes, it actually grows! I bought a bag of cheap birdseed and let the kids each plant their own seeds in a small amount of Miracle Gro soil. I told them that they could just use all the types of seeds, or could pick and choose from the different varieties in the birdseed. We ended up with many different varieties of plants and they all started growing within 2 days! Just water with warm water every day! And, ALL of the plants grew...so no problem with some not getting a plant. I even let each student make up a special name for their plant which they really enjoyed doing.
