looping By Christy

Out of curiosity, (no offense, but) why were you chosen as the one to loop? I LOVE the idea of looping, but as a 1st year teacher myself, I think I would want the opportunity to get more established before having to pick| up a whole new curriculum. If your whole school (or all of grades 2/3) is moving to a looping system, then that is different. You whole team will be in the same boat and there will be lots of support. If not, I'm not sure I would want (not in my 2nd year). There is one 2nd year teacher in my school who did loop, and she is regretting it. because she is no longer a 1st year teacher, | | they wouldn't give her a mentor, and the grade level she moved into has no formally established curriculum, so she is having a hard time. These are just my thoughts, but since it sounds like you may not have any choice about looping, I would encouarge you to be proud of the fact that your administration trusts you to do it, and think about the many of positives of a looping system (there are many).
