Hi all, The ideas mentioned so far have been excellent and will really help your ST. And that is your ultimate goal for her regardless of how she regards your advice. If she's not willing to listen and improve now, do you really want her working with children, any children??? Teachers of older grade students need to be responsive and caring learners too. We recently had a ST and essentially it was necessary to put together an improvement plan. But first you need to sit back and document exactly what you're seeing her do/not do that is causing you concern. Then choose one or two goals to work | | on and help her with specific suggestions for improvement. Tell her you're going to be collecting information on these goals alone and that she's going to need to reflect on how she's progressing on them. As soon as a lesson is over, have her immediately move away from the group and write down what went well and what she felt needed work. Then let her compare what she'd written with what you observed and documented. Sometimes it takes scripting EVERYTHING said and done to help her realize exactly what you're trying to get across-videotape if necessary. As she makes progress on these, add another goal or two. I'd also alert her advisor ASAP so there are no surprises at eval time. Best of luck...if you need ideas for goals, etc. my principal gave me a great packet of possibilities she used for evaluations. ;-D
