Vocabulary
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Lynne,
While I don't know how you usually introduce vocabulary, why not try reading the book to the children then asking them to come up with any interesting and unusual words they note? Then reread the passage with the word (and perhaps the prior one) and ask them to come up with a working definition of each. If they're too far off (and some of Kevin Henkes books are certainly written on multiple levels for their parents as well!) you might help them consult the dictionary for something more accurate. A two column chart-words on one side and definition on the other would be a way to record these. Best of luck. ;-D
