Handwriting

Clip to ScrapBook
For your student that keeps switching back and forth from left to right hand. Try to place something in the child's left or right hand that will remind him/her not to switch hands when writing. Sometimes I teach children at first to write on only one line. No other lines. Then add two lines, three etc. I use a poem I made up and seems to be working.
Letters always sit on the line. Letters never dance. Letters never kiss. Letters do not have double vision. When writing a word, letters come close to each other, but do not kiss. Put a finger between each word you write. Only monkey tails under the lines, all other letters on the line. Oh! Please remember letters sit on a line!
