reading strategies and phonics
By Cindy

Clip to ScrapBook
When doing the word work part you will be addressing phonics. Have you looked at the book "Words Their Way"?

Also when I do the reading portion I have a chart posted that lists reading strategies (what to do when you get stuck on a word). It includes... using the picture, finding familiar chunks in the word, what makes sense, what looks right. These strategies help them become more independent and also gives them alternatives to "sound it out".

All programs are up to teacher interpretation. If there is something you don't like about a program or find a better way to do it- go ahead. No program is written in stone. If there are a lot of things you don't like then you should find another program.
