Classroom Grocery Store

I teach first grade and our math program is Saxon Math. The program calls for first grade to have a class grocery store. The students bring in empty cans, boxes, milk containers, etc. We sort our grocery store into sections. Then I put the price tags on the items. The students practice making receipts by "purchasing" two items at a time. I then use this as a center in my room.
