Ifeoma Onyefulu has some fantastic photo books of Nigeria built around common primary themes -- A is for Africa (alphabet), Emeka's Gift (Counting), Triangle for Andora (Shapes) and several others. Verna Aardema has retold many African Folktales -- Mojo Means One is a Swahilli Counting Book Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain is a great book, but I love to watch it on Reading Rainbow with James Earl Jones narrating it. The Talking Cloth tells the story of African fabrics in a nice picture book story Ali, Child of the Desert takes place in the African Dessert. The Storytellers shows a wonderful Moroccan Marketplace. The Day of Ahmed's Secret takes place in Egypt The Day Gogo went to Vote is the story of a Native South African on the day blacks were first allowed to vote.
