guided reading
By Robin

Clip to ScrapBook
Wow! You have your work cut out for you. First, of all don't panic. The books, Debbie recommended are WONDERFUL! I would particulary look at the Bobbie Fischer book and Pinnel and Fountas' "Guided Reading". Right now
though, I have a feeling that you need something you can pick up and go with. Since you are starting your word wall over- Look for Pat Cunningham's Systemic, Sequential Phonics They Use - It is a "scripted" word wall program which has proven to be very useful in our first year - first grade teachers classrooms. Also look for her book - Phonics they Use in First Grade (I think that is
the title). It will give you specific ideas and activities to use in your literacy program for each month of the year and it will show you how to address all the cuing systems that successful readers use. (visual (phonics), meaning, and structure) Enjoy those kids!!
