Leveling books
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Trish,
Yes, there are LOTS of different leveling systems. If you look in Guided Reading or Guiding Readers and Writers, there is a conversion chart from Reading Recovery, Basal readers, to Guided Reading levels. For
a classroom, they're great to use in selecting 'just right' books for children because of the varied criteria. One of my former Kinder students met me in the hall and was sharing her AR book list (books leveled by syllables). While there were some 'right on' books for her, some were so totally 'out there' with regard to content and interest for a first grader...If you need a copy of
the leveling correlations, just post or email and I'd be happy to fax it to you. ;-D Take care and join us on the Teachers As Readers board (a link from the book board will take you there!)
