New Teacher.

Clip to ScrapBook
Congratulations on your new job. It is also nice to hear from another Australian teacher. I live in Perth and have taught year 1's for the last 10 years. Next year I will have 2's. The little ones are fantastic they just
love everything you do. I always send my children home with a reading page to do for homework (they think they are so big) we go over and over the page in class so they know it off by heart but they think they can read. I also get the children to draw a picture of themselves and write their name this is for their development book or portfolio. I also use the mums in the morning to hear reading
before school and then to do storywriting. All the parents are gone by 30minutes after school starts. This way they feel part of their childs life. They are also very useful. Remember the children will be just as nervous as you. The big theme for Australia next year is Year of the Outback. Use this board I have found it so useful. There is a section for new teachers as well plus the year 1 board. Good luck email me if you have any questions you want answered.
