Learning the alphabet
By Christine

Clip to ScrapBook
Here are a few ways that may make things a little more interesting:

*Spraying shaving cream on a table or desk and letting the kids practice making the letter in the shaving cream. This is great for kids who are tactile,
and for cleaning desks!

*Having a variety of different types of pasta on hand comes in helpful when working with letters or making words. I have children use their creativity to make letters or words using the pasta. They glue the letters or words onto a piece of paper.

*One thing cutting, coloring and pasting help kids with is improving their fine motor skills. Maybe she or he could

let the kids cut items out of magazines or sale flyers that start with the letter that they are working on.

*The class could make a book about the letters/sounds they are working on. Each child could draw a picture of their favorite thing that starts with the letter that they are learning about. They could also write their very best "K" (if that is the letter they are learning about) on their page. Kids love seeing their work made into a book that will be looked at. They could have a small library of class made books.

I hope some of these ideas help!
