Becoming Print "Masters"
By sue d.

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach grade three also. Every year, I make the children more excited about cursive by telling them that if their print becomes awesome and neat, they can earn the Print Master Certificate and move into cursive earlier
than the others, but that everyone has to achieve that goal. I make a little workbook of print handwriting paragraphs for them to copy in their neatest print. When they master those, (also good for paragraph modeling) they can earn a certificate and move into cursive. They will work very hard for this because it is something they can achieve. No kid has ever figured out that we'd all
be going into cursive anyway. Adjust for special needs kids of course. Good Luck! We use D'Nealian and Zaner Bloser workbooks, which you can also buy from any teacher's store and bind yourself.
