Race to $ 1.00
By Katie

Clip to ScrapBook
I play a game to teach money called Race to $1.00. Two partners have a baggie of fake coins and a dice. Partner 1 rolls. If they roll a 3, for example, they can take 3 pennies. Then partner number 2 rolls. If they roll a six they can choose 6 pennies or a nickel and 1 penny. Each time they add more money they need to count it up. Their partner has to ask, "Do you want to trade?" before they can go ahead with their own turn. They can trade up (2 nickles for a dime, etc. by returning the 2 nickels they have to the baggie of pennies and taking out a dime in exchange.) First one to a $1.00 wins the race. They have a lot of fun with this and it is great practice!
