picture clues

Clip to ScrapBook
The one plus ou do have in this case though, is the children are familiar with many of the stories-- this helps a lot. Some of my third graders are at levels E and F. When we did our fairy tale/fantasy unit at the beginning of the year, they obviously did a lot of listening and shared reading. But, the reading specialist and I looked around, and we were able to find several fairy tale books with simplified language and picture clues after the harder words-- i.e. Goldilocks (picture of girl) went into the forest (pine trees).... If you can't find any real books like this, you might even want to make a few with computer graphics or something (or perhaps you have a parent helper who might want to make some at home)!
