I have found one, two pocket folder that is laminated for strength sufficient ot begin organizational skills. Label one side HOME the other pocket SCHOOL- materials to go home go on one side , homework, notes to the teacehr etc.. are returned in the "school side or papers that travel back and forth daily stay on that side.
I also (in desperation) found that putting a Velcro strip on the desk with a strip around a pencil really helped the students not to lose their pencil -it could not fall off the desk! Good luck!!
