syllables
By Rebecca

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach my third graders that syllables are word parts. We clap out the syllables for each word. We use our dictionary to see how the words are divided. When they are individually working on syllables, I have them tap them out quietly with their finger on their palm. They know they can do this to help them find the answer and not disturb others (especially on a test). Hope this helps a little.
