for subs
By Rebecca

Clip to ScrapBook
I personally leave as much detail on plans as possible(procedures, rules, classwork, special needs of students, etc.). Staying on schedule as far as lunch, special classes, changing classes, etc. is a MUST. If you go over
time on a subject in the classroom, it is not a big deal to me. Also, stay actively involved! I would like for you to do what I've left for you to do but I understand if you don't get it all done (I usually leave extra stuff just in case you need it). If something isn't working, then regroup. Like the poster before said, get a book to read and ask them questions about it. Have them
draw a picture of their favorite part, etc.

As far as grading, I have students that I have to modify for and that is confidential. Plus a sub wouldn't be aware of how to go about the modifications. Personally, I like to grade my own papers, however some teachers want you to. You might ask one of the other teachers what to do. I would appreciate you grouping papers together with paper clips(since I have a turn in basket and things get jumbled) and save them for me.

I definitely would appreciate a note back from you so I know how things went...and don't be afraid to let me know of those problems and students who misbehaved! I want to know that.

Just try to keep the day as "normal" as possible but don't worry if things get a little off. Try to become familiar with the rules of the classroom as well as the school and stick to them.

Good Luck and Enjoy subbing!
