Clip to ScrapBook
i don't have anything immediate, but i have used the venn diagram for the following (i teach 6th)

i read frindle and nothing but the truth aloud,
and then we compare and contrast it--settings, plot, characters, mood...
(they are similar books with dramatically different themes and endings.)

i also do a unit on mysteries. we read the westing game together and i read the treasure of alpheus winterborn--2 EXCELLENT mysteries! we then compare and contrast them--characters are same age--1 boy, 1 girl; both characters play chess; both characters have a mother figure in their life who is nicer than their

mothers; one is looking for money, the other a treasure;one book is about a main character, the other focuses on an ensemble of characters.

we are currently reading maniac magee. we are going to compare/contrast 2 people (bill nye and bart simpson) to review the venn diagram, and then we'll compare 2 characters from the book.

good luck.
