Religious holidays
By michelle

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi I am a first grade teacher in the Philadelphia inner city public school.
I cover every holiday that is in the school year. During December I cover Ramadan, Hanakuh, Christmas, Kwanza and the children absolutely love it. The parents support me and I offer them to come in and talk about it.
To me I feel it is important to cover these holidays so the children are culturally educated. I have muslims, christians, and jewish children in my room and to talk about their religion makes them feel special.
I was raised in a Catholic school for 12 years and they never talked about other religions and so I was clueless about other peoples beliefs and I don't want the children to feel that way!!!!
