    Noise level
    By Debbie

    Hi Sheri,
We've ALL been there...we have practiced different noise levels for various activities-quiet and no room movement during silent read/write, five inch voices (kids must whisper close to their partner) and the classroom buzz when they're all sharing an idea with their group.
Before we begin LAB or Math/Science block, I remind them about the appropriate level. If I have to remind them more than once, I interrupt their activities and move them to the meeting area immediately where we discuss the problem. It takes several times of stopping them mid- activity, physically having them all move and sit for a group meeting 'til they understand how you and your group feel when you say you're being interrupted. Try it and see what you think. Best of luck. ;-D
