ADHD

Clip to ScrapBook
I have had several children who could not stay in their seat and had to wander around the room looking at everyone else's work, touching it, and taking things off their desks that he wanted to use. Talk about a challenge.
I am of the same philosophy as you! I developed some life savers for my sanity. I put these children (different years, thank goodness!) at the back of the room so the others would not be as distracted. I also found it easier to ignore some things when they were further away from me! I gave them 2 different desks. When they got tired of sitting on one side, they would walk to the
other. This provided the "UP" they needed without having to make up a question for me or sharpen a pencil or get a kleenex. If I saw that getting old, I would send a note to another teacher that said "____ just needed to get up for a minute and walk around. Thanks for your help!" Of course, I had already talked to my team about them and I sent them to someone different every day. They also filled my water glass and took my real notes to other teachers. These children actually started to feel important and really thought that I liked them and that I wasn't "ALWAYS picking on them" for their bad/annoying behavior. Good luck with this one, and I hope you get some positive results!
