Don't you think you could have a little more tactful or kept that comment to yourself? It seems to me that this is different from just buying a plastic apple mug from Walmart and she must be seeking out this specific gift because it seems appropriate for the person she wants to buy it for! I don't mean to sound harsh, but your response was pretty insulting.
