    Mult. Help

I teach 4th gradeers, also. Because we use sooo much multiplication in 4th grade I start off the school year with testing the basic facts.
I start the 2nd week of school. I test the children on the facts 2-12. The first week everyone starts on the 2's. I have copies of tests that just have 2's, 3's, 4's, etc....
During the week, on Tuesday & Thursday, they have to write the fact they are on 5 times each for homework. On Friday a timed test is given. I give 5 minutes for a 50 problem test. (use your descretion here)
On Monday I hand out the tests, if a child miss 2 or less they move on to the next number. If you miss three or more, you retake that same test on Friday AND they must write their facts every night 5 times for homework.
I also combine facts: 3&4's, 5&6's, 7&8's, 9&10's, and 11&12's. But they must first pass the individual test before the combination test is given.
For the rest of the time period on Fridays, we play mult. games. If you would like a list of all the different games I'd be happy to give them to you.

Hope you maybe can find something useful in here. Good luck with your class.
