Math Money!
By Elaine

Clip to ScrapBook
Sounds too wonderful!!!!!! We used "fraction pattern blocks" (1/4 and 1/12 pieces sold separate from the regular ones) today to discover/model opperations with fractions, and I can't imagine teaching the concepts without
them.

Also, do you have overhead versions of all the manipulatives you mentioned?

We use individual student dry erase boards (and all the supplies that go with them) frequently in math. That could be an option if you do not already have them.

What about calculators? Depending on your grade level, and since the funds seem to be flowing freely, you may want to get fraction calculators

that would allow students the opportunity to discover patterns related to fractions before actually learning the rules or the paper and pencil methods.

Have fun!
Elaine
