Hawaii

Not to make you jealous, but I have actually been to Hawaii (before entering the field of education), and I think that this is a great idea that you have. Hawaii is like a different world. The dances are really easy to
learn. Oh I should mention that I am a girl scout leader and my fellow leaders and I held a hawaiian weekend for the girls (k-12) and it turned out really well.

I don't know what kind of budget you have, but making armbands and t-shirts were some of the favorite activities. Also the Hawaiians use a lot of percussion, and ther are a lot of games with wooden sticks (about a foot in length

and an inch in diameter) that go to beats.

I would make sure to talk about the alphabet, because it is different. Also maybe about their clothing.

Still in Hawaii today (I went four years ago) men and women in the traditional cothing (grass skirts) go around the cities, lighting torches at night. (They have real fire instead of street lights.)
