Clip to ScrapBook
It is tough when you put so much money into books and then they are "lost" or destroyed. I felt the same way after my first year of teaching. Now, I have listed the titles, author, and levels into a database on my computer.
I do not let the books go home nor do I let them be placed in their desks. I feel bad not letting them take them home, but I decided that was what the school and public library books were for. Each of my students have their magazine holder (those plastic ones you can get at wal-mart) and they place the book they are reading in there along with their writer's notebook and spelling
notebook. This system seems to be working for me, as I only lost two books last year! As for the wear and tear on them? I haven't gotten that one down, but keeping them on the shelves, instead of desks and backpacks, has helped. Good luck! Share any ideas you come up with!
