Instead of using borax and water you can also use the putty solution that is designed for bio color

Make a commet by on outer edge of page make a dot with paint, then circle it with 2-5 more colors. Take a flat edge plastic thing and swipe the paint accross the page. the paint on the paper dries fast and if you do it correctly it dosent mix colors.
