Looping
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Deb,
I've done both looping as well as Multiage, I prefer multiage. Looping is a wonderful way to enrich and extend your learning community over two or more years. You have more teaching time, because you begin where
they left off, and your kids already know the routines and expectations. It is harder to give up your group and pick up a new one, because of the strong bonds and the 'culture shock' you experience beginning with the 'newbies' again. Also, it is more difficult for a child to move into the classroom after it's been established, partially because of your tendency to expect more from
them as well as the closeness of the community you've built. It's hard for some children to feel a part of it. Which are all good cases for Multiage. But either is more beneficial for the children in the long run (unless you've got a teacher who should not be teaching, in which case the children suffer for multiple years!). Best of luck whatever you decide. There are books written on both. ;-D
