Clip to ScrapBook
I teach full day kindergarten and I know that the age a child starts kindergarten can make a big difference. I have had 4 year olds start in full day kindergarten and I believe that it is too young. They are not ready! I
also have had some kids around 6 years old and they do really well in school, but sometimes I feel they get bored quicker because they know some of the material already, but I still have to teach it to the kids who don't know it. I feel that 5 years old is probably the best age to start kindergarten if they are ready. Many schools have a kindergarten screeening to help you decide if your
child is ready. But you as a parent will probably know the best if your child is ready. Also, you said you have full day and half day. I personally feel that a full day program is better, because it allows for more meaningful and enrichment activities throughout the day. In a half day program I felt very rushed to teach all of the material, but in a full day program I feel much more relaxed and I can spend more time expanding on the material taught. I hope this wasn't too confusing and I hope it helps!
