Not sure exactly By Cathy-Dee

I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for. We might be able to share ideas if we knew more about what you see as problems especially for your child and what ideas you already have. I think "free" play is very important| in the development of children. School days are already very structured and recess should be a time for children to relax, invent games and have fun. Playgrounds with good equipment (and enough equipment) tend to foster better physical play. Accidents tend to happen when there are just too many children in one area. So working on finding grants, etc., to add to the playground you | | already have might be one idea. I also think there is nothing wrong with creating play areas for certain grade levels or even staggering recess breaks so that the younger children do not mix with the older ones. Older children are bigger and accidents happen unintentionally sometimes when they play with younger students.Having good supervision makes a huge difference as well and I know I teach my students good "playground" behaviour rules, how to use the equipment properly, etc., at the beginning of the year and then remind them when necessary. And we can only protect our children so much. They do need to learn how to get along, how to make friends, etc., It's important to teach them skills within the classroom and the home that they can take with them to the playground.
