when my son went to a multicultural school

they did a special night at school....such as your suggesting...and they called it International Night....our school had parent volunteers from each country come in and teach one classroom an ethnic song or dance from their country and then on International Night the classrooms performed their song or dance. Afterwards each classroom had had parents from their room cook an ethnic sampler from their country - like cookies or finger foods so you could wanter around the school and sample foods. It was yummy.We also invited parents in to read or tell stories from their country. They often came in in native dress. It was a wonderful experience for all involved
