calls at home By kat

Joan,I really am offended to think that you are a teacher and believe that those of us who don't like calls at home are not doing our jobs. I am at school 45minutes each morning before students come to my room and for | at least an hour at the end of the day. I am sorry if you don't think that's enough time, but I really resent parents calling me to find out what the homework is. I have set up evening phone conferences with parents and I call them, but in order for me to be a sane person with my family I have to seperate the two. My family does come first, but I don't think that makes me an uncaring | | or dedicated teacher. This is what I am hearing from the other teachers who have posted. In all the years my children have been in school this is the first year I have ever called a teacher at home and it was because there was a case of physical violence that was bothering my daughter. A good teacher gives 150% and knows how to get it done without her family suffering. Care and concern is one thing, babying their child or accepting the child's lack of organization for assignments is another. I have shared this with your posting with my fellow teachers and we all got a great laugh. We did need that today, so for that I will thank you.
