Hi Amiee,
I too have MANY books, kids and professional ones. I started by putting them into categories by subject, then by GL emphasis. The children's books are arranged by theme, author, level, genre, or a combination.| I also use small plastic post it flags in the books to mark things I feel I'd use. I do this LOTS in the professional magazines as I receive/read them. Once I've assessed/evaluated my children and established classroom routines, I have my personal favorites that remain easily accessible.
