Clip to ScrapBook
I have taught 2nd-6th grade and have found well illustrated quality picture books to be of interest at all grade levels. I would pick books that appeal to YOU! I have found that if the teacher loves the book --that enthusiasm
for books, authors and illustrators carries over to a wide range of students. Most books can be tied to a holiday, unit of study, theme, art lesson, etc. in one way or another. If that book is on your shelf you will find a way to share it. I believe in enjoying a good story simply for the love of the language used and/or the quality of the illustrations. Older children can be involved
in deeper discussions about authors' styles, page layout, art design, vocabulary, etc. So I would just start collecting books that you have a personal interest in owning. Also, check out garage sales and second hand stores. You can find treasures for practically nothing!
