year round school

Clip to ScrapBook
We had one elementary do it and supposedly the kids and parents liked it... but is more a solution for the two income family that has constant daycare requirements and set ups throughout the year... on the off times the kids
are still in school just doing projects... and with working parents.. during the summer they spend time in activity camps etc.

However, for the one income family it is a difficulty. And if kids are at home unsupervised because they are older... secondary level this is not a good way to go... Also it eliminates the summer job situation which a lot of high school students depend on...

That is the one's who aren't working all year long.

For elementary O.K. perhaps..for secondary I dont think it's a good plan. Just as the block scheduling is falling by the wayside at our school .. One shouldn't jump on the educational newest voque thing without some real time input from the community the parents and the students.
