year round

Clip to ScrapBook
Our district has been on a year-round calendar for more than five years. The school I work at is the last "hold out". We are still on traditional calendar. One of the cons I see as far as the year-round is that the teachers are required to pack up their classroom every three months before they track off. Many teachers will admit that the last week before they track off and the week after they come back on are pretty much wasted. That is a significant amount of classroom time when you do it another two times during the year. The pro is that the students don't have three months over the summer to lose what they've learned. The time between tracks is usually 4-5 weeks.
