Theme Again By Lori 2

I hope you are able to find Little Nino's Pizzeria. It is a very simple little story, but it has a powerful message. I have found the simpler the actual story line of the book, the easier it is to get the idea of theme | across. Another great book for teaching theme that I went brain dead on the other night is The Story of Ferdinand by Robert Lawson. (I don't know how I could forget it -- it is one of my oldest daughter's favorite picture books. The first time I read it to her we had to read it three times in a row.) At any rate, the theme is "Be Yourself." Some of my students have also said the | | theme is "You don't have to fight" which for some of them is an excellent theme! I think theme can be hard to teach and some classes really have a hard time grasping the concept. Any ideas? Lori
