Theme Again
By Lori 2

Clip to ScrapBook
I hope you are able to find Little Nino's Pizzeria. It is a very simple little story, but it has a powerful message.

I have found the simpler the actual story line of the book, the easier it is to get the idea of theme
across. Another great book for teaching theme that I went brain dead on the other night is The Story of Ferdinand by Robert Lawson. (I don't know how I could forget it -- it is one of my oldest daughter's favorite picture books. The first time I read it to her we had to read it three times in a row.) At any rate, the theme is "Be Yourself." Some of my students have also said the
theme is "You don't have to fight" which for some of them is an excellent theme!

I think theme can be hard to teach and some classes really have a hard time grasping the concept. Any ideas?

Lori
