beach party
By MA

Clip to ScrapBook
I have had beach parties in the past and they are a lot of fun! I usually do it in conjunction with the class reading goal for the month of January. Here's the rundown for what we've done. The kids bring shorts, beach towels,
sunglasses, and a small snack and something to drink. After lunch and recess we change to shorts, then read on the"beach" for 20-30 min because that's how we earned the beach party. We spread out our towels, move the furniture and hang out listening to the Beach Boys and Surfin' USA! After that we watch a beach movie of some kind, like Walt Disney's "Sammy the Wayout Seal". Old but,
hilarious! (I teach 2nd grade!) We eat our snacks while we watch. After that Dancing and beach ball games and pretend surfing! By the end of 2 hours we're tired, hot and ready to go back to winter! Have fun! By the way, I teach in Iowa where winters are most always cold! But Saturday it was 70 degrees here!
