Women's history By Lori 2

With my daughter's girl scout troop, each girl chose a woman and portrayed her. In a school situation with both boys and girls, I have toyed with the idea of having a "talk show or news show" with one of the boys as an anchor| and other boys interviewing each of the women at the "scene." I have used this format before with characters from literature, famous men in the wars (women, too, there just aren't many of them), inventors and scientists, African-Americans for Black History month, etc. Some of the women that I have a monologue for are: Wilma Rudolph -- can also get info from the book Wilma Unlimited Barbara | | McClintock -- geneticist -- discovered that genes hopAbigail Adams Elizabeth Cady Stanto Amelia Earhart Grace Murray Hopper -- computer scientist/mathematician Sandra Day O'Connor Georgia O'Keefe Eleanor Roosevelt Sojourner Truth Babe Didrikson Zaharias Rosa Parks Annie Smith Peck Maya Angelou Wilma Mankiller - cheif of the Cherokee Julia Morgan -- architect Elizabeth Blackwell -- first woman doctor Sally Ride Barbara Jordan Sacagawea This concept makes for a fairly easy script since the interviewers work up their questions and the people being interviewed work up their responses. Also makes for a good research opportunity for both since both have to research the person. Hope that helps. Lori
